When do I call 911? Should I be calling 911?

We often hear reservations expressed by neighbors about calling 911.  People think that they don’t want to “waste police time”,  “get involved”,  or wonder “is it really criminal activity going on”, etc.

These concerns are well-intentioned but don’t really forward the safety of the neighborhood.

Police actually really do appreciate neighbor involvement. They also are statistically driven in determining where to allocate resources (“cops on dots”) so your call can justify increasing our patrols later on.
